TRAINING CENTER HOLDS SPECIAL COURT MARTIAL |

CAPE MAY, N.J. - A special court martial is scheduled for a petty officer charged with violating 14 punitive Articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009 at 9 a.m., in the Oceanside Facility at Coast Guard Training Center Cape May. The media can attend the court martial under the following ground rules: * Space is limited, thus only 10 seats are available in the courtroom. Media interested in attending the court martial must contact the public affairs officer at (609) 898-6362 no later than 3 p.m., Monday, Sept. 21, 2009. * Media must show credentials before being allowed into the courtroom. * If the need for media pool should arise, the media are responsible for designating the pool representatives. * No recording devices of any kind will be allowed in the hearing room including, but not limited to, still cameras, audio and video recording devices. * Cell phones and pagers must be turned off while in the courtroom. * Media members may bring a notepad and pen into the courtroom. * Media attending the investigation must be seated in the courtroom no later than 8:45 a.m. * Once the court martial has commenced no one is permitted to enter or depart the courtroom until the military judge calls for a recess, unless there is an emergency. * No loitering will be permitted in the passageways near the courtroom during closed sessions or during recess. * Media moving around outside of the courtroom must have an escort. * Visitors must not interfere with regular Coast Guard business * Please refrain from publishing identities, identifying features or likenesses of alleged victims. Any violation of any of the above ground rules may result in the media members being removed from the training center grounds. Parking for media and television trucks will be located in the parking lot adjacent to the Oceanside facility. Television stations planning on going live from the training center may do so at the designated area. Please understand that these ground rules are being established based on currently available information and are subject to change.
